With Sunbrella Firesist and Firesist Plus, flame retardant additives are incorporated into the solution-dyed formula prior to fiber formation, making fire protection an inherent part of the fabric. 

The process creates fabric that will not drip melt if exposed to flames and will self-extinguish when the flame is removed.  Since fire protection is an inherent attribute of the fabric, it will not leach or wash out during the life of the fabric.  Sunbrella Firesist and Firesist Plus meet most interior and exterior fire code regulations.
